Powder coating is the preferred finish for all commercial metal furniture frames.

Regularly wipe clean regularly with warm water and a mild detergent or soap solution with a soft cloth. Do not use any abrasive cleaners, cleaning products with harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaning pads.

If proper surface preparation is followed powdercoat should not chip easily, however if small scratches or chips do occur, they can be touched up using a matching spray paint.

Clean in one direction only, along the original polish lines. Harsh abrasives such as steel wool or metal scrapers can damage the original polish lines.

Do not use harsh chemicals, abrasives or scrapers as these will dull or scratch the chrome surface.

At Identity Furniture, we use solid brass flat bar for our brass edging. Generally, brass is left raw to patina naturally. This can be revitalised by lightly linishing in the grain direction using an abrasive pad or non-soapy steel wool. Then wipe of residue with a clean white rag.

In some cases, a clear lacquer is applied to protect the brass finish. Clear lacquered brass edging should only be cleaned using a damp soft cloth. Household cleaners, or abrasive cleaning pads will damage the clear lacquer finish.

WARNING

Brass can still patina under a clear coat, and it can not be re-polished without removing the clear coat. For this reason Identity Furniture does not recommend clear coating brass.

Identity Furniture uses and recommends a 2-pac lacquer finish for commercial applications.

All lacquered timber should never under any circumstances be exposed to direct sunlight, outdoor environments, extreme heat, or extreme fluctuations in air moisture.

Lacquered timber furniture should be cleaned regularly with a damp soft cloth and warm soapy water. Do not saturate the surface of the timber with moisture when cleaning. It is important to wipe up any spills or splashes immediately to avoid swelling, warping and staining.

Do not use strong detergents, harsh cleaning chemicals or alcohol based cleaners as this can affect the lacquer surface. Avoid the use of silicone based or glass cleaning products such as Windex.

All slatted hardwood tops manufactured by Identity Furniture are treated with three coats of Intergrain Universal Timber oil to protect the timber from the elements and limit stains from penetrating into the timber.

Outdoor oiled timber requires regular maintenance by applying an additional coat of Intergrain Universal Timber oil every 3-6 months depending on the environment.

Oiled timber should be cleaned regularly with a damp soft cloth and warm soapy water. The use of harsh cleaning chemicals or alcohol based cleaners will reduce the life, appearance, and effectiveness of the oiled finish.

If the timber is left without oiling it will weather over time to a silvery grey colour. Weathered timber can be revitalised by sanding back and recoating with several coats of Intergrain Universal Timber oil.

TANNIN WARNING (Part of Outdoor Oiled Timber)

Tannin is a naturally occurring substance in timber which can leach the first few times it is exposed to water. It can stain furniture frames, timber decking and paved areas, that are light in colour.

Objects left on the timber surface will also draw tannin out, creating surface marks. Exposure to metal particles such as, grinding dust, drilling swarf and even stone dust can increase the chance of tannin staining occurring.

This staining is not covered by the Identity Furniture warrant. Should Tannin stains occur the timber will need to be sanded back and refinished.

To clean, simply wipe with a damp soft cloth and mild soapy water. Avoid saturating the surface with excess moisture, and dry thoroughly with a clean cloth.

Do not use harsh chemicals, abrasive pads, or alcohol-based cleaners, as these may damage the sealant or dry out the cork.

Cork is a natural material and may show subtle texture or tonal variations. Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight may cause fading or discoloration over time. Protective pads or coasters are recommended to prevent indentation or staining from heavy or wet objects.

All laminate materials are subject to that of the manufacturers’ care specifications. Laminates should be kept out of direct sunlight and extreme heat as this can affect the bonding to the substrate.

Laminate tops should be cleaned regularly with a damp soft cloth and warm soapy water. Do not saturate the surface of the laminate with moisture when cleaning. It is important to wipe up any spills or splashes immediately to avoid swelling, delamination and staining.

For daily cleaning, wipe with a damp cloth and a pH-neutral cleaner. Avoid overly wet cleaning methods—use minimal moisture and dry thoroughly.

Do not use highly alkaline or acidic cleaners, abrasive tools, or solvent-based products as these can damage the surface.

Marmoleum develops a natural patina over time and minor scuffs can often be buffed out with a soft cloth. For more intensive maintenance or stain removal, refer to suppliers official care recommendations.

Marble and Stone tops should be cleaned regularly with a damp soft cloth and warm soapy water. Blot any spills with paper towel immediately. Flush the area with water and neutral cleaner or stone safe cleaner and rinse several times. Dry the area thoroughly with a soft cloth.

Under no circumstances should Marble or stone tops be cleaned with Abrasive pads, cloths or strong detergents and harsh cleaning chemicals.

Some suppliers have proprietary cleaners such as ‘Caesarstone Cream Cleanser’ which can be used for stubborn stains.

Natural Stone surfaces are supplied with a penetrating sealer applied.

Tiled tops supplied through Identity furniture should be cleaned regularly with a damp soft cloth and warm soapy water.

Our tiled table tops only use Epoxy Grout. Sometimes grout lines can stain/discolour. These can be cleaned using a ‘Magic Sponge’ or ‘Magic Eraser’ product and water however this can affect the sheen on the surrounding tiles.

Harsh abrasive pads or scrapers should not be used.

Vinyl upholstery should be protected from sunlight (unless specifically outdoor rated) and direct heat sources.

Blot spills immediately with a clean dry cloth. And clean using a soft cloth moistened with warm water and, if required, a mild non-alkaline detergent.

Never use harsh chemicals, silicone or alcohol based cleaners on vinyl as this will damage the surface.

WARNING

Dark or non-colourfast fabrics (such as new denim jeans) can transfer dye onto light vinyl surfaces – this is not covered by Identity Furniture Warranty.

Vacuum fabric regularly to prevent dust build up. Blot liquid spills immediately with a dry white cloth. Do not scrub or use stiff brushes or abrasive pads as this may damage the fibres.

Some Fabrics can be steam cleaned depending on the manufacturers recommendations.

Pilling can occur in some fabrics as a result of normal daily wear and is not considered a fault. Fibre pills can be removed using a battery operated pilling tool.

Leather should be should be protected from sunlight and direct heat sources.

Regularly dust with a soft cloth, or vacuum with a soft brush attachment.

Spills should be immediately blotted with a soft, absorbent cloth, never rubbed. Apply a quality leather conditioner at least once a year. Do not use shoe or saddle polishes on leather.

Some leathers have an aged surface that is designed to scratch, stretch and ‘age’ over time.

Natural rattan is designed for indoor use only, and should be protected from sunlight, direct heat sources and high humidity.

Wipe with a slightly damp cloth using a mild soap solution for general cleaning. Do not soak—rattan is porous and absorbs water easily. Dry thoroughly with a clean cloth and allow to air dry completely before reuse.

A soft-bristled toothbrush can be used to gently scrub between the weaves for deeper cleaning.

Rattan is a natural product and may wear out of require replacement over time. Identity Furniture does not recommend using Rattan on chair seats or other high wear areas.
