The SkyCity Casino is Adelaide’s premier entertainment precinct following a $330 million redevelopment.
Key to the redevelopment’s success is the newly established District at SkyCity; a new entertainment district connecting multiple bars, live music, and dining venues into one space with a large three-story atrium. The venue is the first Australian venue inside a Casino to operate a microbrewery thanks to a partnership with a local brewer, Pirate Life.
Nestled inside Adelaide’s heritage-listed railway station building, the design of the venue by Studio Nine Architects aims to blend the old with the new. With a careful selection of raw, rustic, and industrial materials, Studio Nine blends modern design with the station’s original red brick and corrugated iron walls. Cement tiles, structural steel, exposed ducts and pipes, corrugated iron and polished steel courtesy of the microbrewery, pay tribute to the old, while bright energetic colours are set in motion with neon lighting, graffiti murals, and green walls.
Studio Nine turned to Identity Furniture to continue the industrial-modern design with sturdy metal frames, powdercoated finishes, exposed bolts, and stained Blackbutt timber. In total, we produced over 309 custom furniture pieces including tables, stools, and booths for the District at SkyCity.
Our extensive custom work included:
• Custom Casper Banquettes with three-section oiled Slatted Blackbutt construction with exposed screw heads and vinyl upholstered seat and back with fluted stitching detailing.
• Custom Sportsbar booths with whitewashed finished slatted Rustic Blackbutt construction, thick upholstered vinyl seat cushion, powdercoated steel mesh divider, and integrated side table with Rustic Blackbutt tabletop and powdercoated base.
• District Tables with zinc-plated steel angle section frame and custom rivet head detailing in a flat black powdercoated finish and slatted Rustic Blackbutt seat in a whitewashed finish.
• District Tables with zinc-plated steel angle section frame and custom rivet head detailing in a navy blue powdercoated finish and slatted Rustic Blackbutt seat in a whitewashed finish.
• District Bench Set with zinc-plated steel angle section frame and custom rivet head detailing in a flat black powdercoated finish and slatted Rustic Blackbutt seat in a whitewashed finish.
• District Barstools with zinc-plated steel angle section frame and custom rivet head detailing in a flat black powdercoated finish and slatted Rustic Blackbutt seat in a whitewashed finish.
