The Templestowe Hotel

The Templestowe Hotel has a long and rich history spanning over a hundred and fifty-three years having been established in 1868 by the Sparkes Family and sold to the Sheahan Family in 1870.

Originally known as ‘Sheahan’s Pub’, The Templestowe Hotel was the second hotel to be established in Templestowe, second only to the ‘Upper Yarra Hotel’. The Sheahan family operated the venue up until 1931 where it was sold, renamed as The Templestowe Hotel, and extensively renovated in 1964.

While a lot has changed since 1868, The Templestowe Hotel is still in operation by the Pubco Group, providing the local Templestowe community with quality entertainment and hospitality. Under the guidance of Enth Degree Architects, The Templestowe Hotel briefly closed in May of 2020 to modernize the venue’s facilities. The Templestowe Hotel reopened in December of 2020 with the locals describing the new facilities as “well-separated spaces with attractive modern touches”.
